The top chart shows the yield from the UK Stock Market, 10 Year Gilts and the Bank Base Rate.
If you deduct the annual rate of inflation (Retail Price Index) to show the “real yield” the income from UK Stocks looks more attractive - it might only be 1.8% but many consider this a far better choice to Gilts and Deposits where the income is negative and inflation is eroding value.
